TRANSITIONAL HOUSING
“Transitional housing provides warm, dry, short-term accommodation housing for people and families who don’t have anywhere to live.
It includes support services to help people secure a longer-term home and get back on their feet so that they’re in a stronger position to stay housed.”
– Ministry of Housing and Urban Development
SOCIAL HOUSING
“If you can’t afford a private rental, you may be able to live in a public (social) house where the Government pays part of the rent. These are houses that are rented out by Kāinga Ora (used to be Housing New Zealand) and other Community Housing Providers.
You need to meet certain criteria to qualify for public housing. If you apply, you may have to wait for a while until a suitable property becomes available.”
